DraftKings NFL DFS Week 2 Main Slate Lineup Breakdown

Week 2 of the NFL season brings another full Sunday main slate, and this DraftKings lineup takes an interesting approach to roster construction. Instead of paying up at quarterback and loading the lineup with expensive wide receivers, the build spreads salary across several positions while creating a strong core of high-volume running backs.

The lineup features Brock Purdy at quarterback, Bijan Robinson and Ashton Jeanty at running back, Justin Jefferson, Deebo Samuel Sr. and Kendrick Bourne at wide receiver, Cole Kmet at tight end, Javonte Williams at FLEX and the Jacksonville Jaguars defense.

The combination of elite players, mid-range options and inexpensive salary savers gives this lineup plenty of upside while maintaining exposure to several offenses with strong fantasy environments.

QB: Brock Purdy, $6,200

Brock Purdy is the foundation of the lineup at quarterback. At $6,200, he provides a way to access a high-upside passing offense without spending at the very top of the position.

Purdy faces Miami in a game where San Francisco should have opportunities to move the ball. DraftKings’ Week 2 quarterback projections have Purdy ranked third at the position with a projected 24.7 fantasy points.

The appeal is particularly strong in tournaments because Purdy’s salary allows the lineup to spend heavily at running back and wide receiver. The presence of Deebo Samuel Sr. alongside Purdy also gives this lineup a mini-correlation between quarterback and pass catcher.

RB: Bijan Robinson, $8,200

Bijan Robinson is the highest-priced player in the lineup and provides the type of workload that can anchor a DFS roster.

At $8,200, he is not a cheap option, but DraftKings’ Week 2 projections have Robinson second among running backs at 23.5 projected points.

The matchup with Carolina also creates an appealing setup. Robinson has rushing and receiving paths to a big score, which is exactly what DFS players want from an expensive running back. A touchdown plus strong yardage and receiving production could put him into tournament-winning territory.

RB: Ashton Jeanty, $6,800

Jeanty provides a different type of upside at $6,800. The Raiders rookie is coming off a strong opening week and enters Week 2 with a role that gives him access to significant touches.

DraftKings’ Week 2 projections have Jeanty at 17.1 fantasy points, 11th among running backs.

The Chargers present a tougher matchup than some of the other backs on this roster, but volume can overcome matchup concerns. Jeanty’s receiving ability is especially important if Las Vegas falls behind. That gives him multiple ways to reach value.

WR: Justin Jefferson, $7,800

Justin Jefferson is the lineup’s premium wide receiver and arguably its biggest ceiling play.

At $7,800, Jefferson takes up a significant portion of the salary cap, but his target potential makes the investment easy to understand. The Vikings face Chicago, and Jefferson has the ability to produce a massive DFS score if Minnesota is forced to throw.

Pairing an elite receiver with several lower-priced players is a classic DFS strategy. Rather than trying to create a balanced roster with eight or nine mid-priced players, this lineup uses Jefferson as one of its primary ceiling pieces.

WR: Deebo Samuel Sr., $5,300

Samuel is another important piece because of the correlation with Purdy. At $5,300, he does not need a massive game to justify his salary, but his versatility gives him tournament-winning potential.

He can accumulate fantasy points through receptions, yards and touchdowns, while his ability to contribute as a runner adds another avenue to production.

WR: Kendrick Bourne, $3,900

Bourne is the lineup’s salary-saving wide receiver. At only $3,900, the objective is not necessarily to expect a huge raw score. The goal is to unlock the expensive players elsewhere.

This is one of the most important elements of the lineup. Spending nearly $8,000 on Jefferson and $8,200 on Bijan requires finding players capable of outperforming their salaries.

TE: Cole Kmet, $3,000

Kmet is another value play. At the minimum salary range, he allows the roster to maintain its expensive core.

The Chicago-Minnesota matchup also gives Kmet some appeal as a lower-owned tournament option. Tight end can be a difficult position to predict, so finding a cheap player with touchdown upside can be useful in large-field contests.

FLEX: Javonte Williams, $6,400

Javonte Williams may be one of the most important salary-to-upside plays in the lineup. DraftKings’ Week 2 running back projections list him at 18.2 fantasy points, eighth among running backs.

At $6,400, that projected production makes Williams an important part of the construction. He also gives the lineup exposure to another running back who can benefit from touchdowns and volume.

DST: Jaguars, $2,400

The Jaguars defense completes the build at just $2,400.

Paying down at defense is consistent with the overall strategy. The lineup is prioritizing offensive ceiling and using a cheap defense to preserve salary for players capable of producing substantial DraftKings scores.

Overall DFS Strategy

The biggest strength of this lineup is its structure. It combines two premium running backs, an elite wide receiver, a correlated quarterback/receiver combination and multiple salary-saving plays.

The lineup is not built around trying to hit the median outcome at every position. Instead, it is designed for tournament upside. If Purdy connects with Samuel for a touchdown, Bijan produces a multi-touchdown performance, Jefferson dominates targets and one of the value players hits, the roster has the type of ceiling needed to compete in large-field DraftKings tournaments.

DraftKings’ Week 2 projections support several of the key decisions, particularly Purdy, Robinson, Jeanty and Williams.

As always with NFL DFS, late injury news, weather, inactive lists and ownership projections should be checked before lineup lock. But from a roster-construction standpoint, this build has a clear identity: pay for elite talent, attack running-back volume and use inexpensive pieces to create tournament-winning upside.
