NFL Week 3 2026 DraftKings DFS Lineup Breakdown

NFL Week 3 brings another full DraftKings main slate, and this $50,000 lineup takes an interesting approach to roster construction. Rather than paying up for the most expensive quarterback or loading up on multiple premium receivers, the lineup spreads the salary around the roster while pairing several players with significant upside.

The lineup features Brock Purdy ($6,500) at quarterback, Kenneth Walker III ($7,400) and Bucky Irving ($6,300) at running back, CeeDee Lamb ($7,800), D.K. Metcalf ($5,400) and Deebo Samuel Sr. ($5,300) at wide receiver, T.J. Hockenson ($3,200) at tight end, David Montgomery ($6,000) in the FLEX and the New York Jets DST ($2,100).

The entire lineup comes to exactly $50,000, leaving no salary on the table.

Quarterback: Brock Purdy, $6,500

Purdy is an important piece of this lineup because he provides access to a potentially productive San Francisco offense without requiring one of the slate’s highest quarterback salaries.

His matchup with Arizona also creates an appealing stacking opportunity with Deebo Samuel. Current Week 3 DFS projections have Purdy around 19-23 fantasy points depending on the projection model, putting him firmly in the conversation among the mid-priced quarterbacks.

The biggest advantage of using Purdy is the ability to combine his passing production with Samuel’s receiving upside. If San Francisco produces multiple touchdowns through the air, this pairing has a path to a strong combined score.

Running Back: Kenneth Walker III, $7,400

Walker is one of the more expensive players in the lineup, but there is plenty of statistical upside attached to the salary.

Multiple current DFS projection systems have Walker near the top of the Week 3 running back pool. One projection model has him at 26.4 DraftKings points, while another has him at 22.4.

That makes Walker one of the lineup’s potential ceiling plays.

The key for this roster is volume. At $7,400, Walker doesn’t necessarily need an enormous game to justify the salary, but a combination of rushing production, receptions and a touchdown would put him in position to become one of the lineup’s primary scorers.

Running Back: Bucky Irving, $6,300

Irving provides a significant salary discount compared with the elite running backs on the slate.

At $6,300, the strategy is straightforward: find a player capable of producing starter-level fantasy numbers without spending $8,000 or more at the position.

Irving also gives the lineup exposure to the Minnesota-Tampa Bay matchup while allowing the roster to spend heavily elsewhere. For DFS tournaments, that type of salary allocation can be useful because it leaves room for high-upside players at wide receiver.

Wide Receiver: CeeDee Lamb, $7,800

Lamb is the highest-priced receiver on this roster and one of its foundational pieces.

At $7,800, he’s being used as a premium receiver without paying the absolute top salary at the position. Current Week 3 projection data places Lamb among the highest-rated wide receivers on the slate, with one model projecting more than 22 DraftKings points.

Lamb’s value is tied to his combination of target potential and big-play ability. The lineup is essentially betting that his volume gives him one of the safer paths to a large receiving total while still retaining tournament-winning upside.

Wide Receiver: D.K. Metcalf, $5,400

Metcalf is one of the lineup’s value-oriented wide receivers.

The $5,400 salary leaves plenty of room for premium players elsewhere, but Metcalf brings the type of downfield ability that can make a mid-priced receiver particularly interesting in GPP contests.

The challenge is consistency. A player like Metcalf can produce a huge DFS score on relatively modest volume if he connects on a few explosive plays. That makes him particularly useful in a lineup already built around several high-ceiling players.

Wide Receiver: Deebo Samuel Sr., $5,300

Samuel is the second half of the Purdy stack and arguably one of the most important strategic selections in the lineup.

At only $5,300, Samuel doesn’t need a massive statistical performance to provide value. His inclusion also gives the lineup a direct connection to Purdy’s production.

If Purdy throws multiple touchdowns and Samuel accounts for one of them, the lineup receives production from both sides of the touchdown. That correlation is one of the basic principles of tournament DFS lineup construction.

Tight End: T.J. Hockenson, $3,200

Hockenson is the primary salary-saving play.

At $3,200, he is considerably cheaper than the elite tight ends, allowing the lineup to spend $7,800 on Lamb and $7,400 on Walker.

The appeal is primarily opportunity. Tight end can be difficult to predict from week to week, so finding a reasonably priced player with a realistic path to several targets and a touchdown can help balance a lineup.

FLEX: David Montgomery, $6,000

Montgomery provides another mid-range running back option at $6,000.

Using Montgomery in the FLEX instead of another premium wide receiver gives the lineup a three-running-back construction. That approach puts considerable emphasis on rushing production and touchdowns.

Montgomery’s biggest DFS appeal comes from his ability to turn red-zone opportunities into fantasy points. At $6,000, a touchdown combined with a solid rushing workload would give him a reasonable path to paying off his salary.

Defense: New York Jets, $2,100

The Jets are the cheapest selection on the roster at $2,100.

This is a classic salary-saving defense strategy. Instead of spending $3,000 or more on a premium DST, the lineup uses the savings to strengthen the offensive positions.

For DFS purposes, sacks, turnovers and defensive touchdowns can quickly change the value equation. The Jets don’t need to dominate statistically to pay off a $2,100 salary if they can generate a few high-value defensive plays.

Overall Lineup Strategy

The biggest theme of this DraftKings build is balanced upside.

Purdy and Samuel create a quarterback-receiver stack, while Lamb and Walker provide two premium individual plays. Irving, Metcalf, Hockenson and Montgomery fill out the middle of the salary range, and the Jets allow the lineup to spend the full $50,000.

Current Week 3 DFS projections also support several of the lineup’s core pieces, particularly Walker, Purdy and Lamb.

For a tournament lineup, the goal is not simply to accumulate players who project well. It is to create a roster where several players can outperform their salaries simultaneously. This lineup does that by combining a quarterback stack, explosive receivers, multiple running backs and a low-cost defense.

If the San Francisco passing game connects for multiple touchdowns while Walker, Lamb and one of the mid-priced running backs delivers a big performance, this roster has a clear path toward a strong Week 3 DraftKings score.
